FIFA will today hold an online summit with representatives of 211 national federations.
Report informs, citing Sky Sports, that FIFA President Gianni Infantino hopes to get the football federations' support for the idea of holding the world cups twice a year.
The summit will last for two days, as Infantino is searching for additional sources of revenue for FIFA. In the years of holding the world cups, the organization's revenue grows dramatically. While by results of the 2018 World Cup, FIFA earned $4.6 billion, it made only $766 million in 2019.
The players currently spend nearly 50 days a year in national teams.
UEFA and CONMEBOL are against this project since they believe that the changes will reduce the interest in the tournament.
