Ambassador: BP is Azerbaijan’s important partner on decarbonization

The UK is the single largest investor in Azerbaijan contributing 51% of total investment with over 500 British companies currently doing business in the country, Azerbaijani Ambassador to UK Elin Suleymanov wrote in an article in London Business Matters magazine, Report informs.

“We are now also in the process of establishing the UK Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry aiming to further boost business to business connections and promote inward trade and investment,” he said.

“BP is an important player in contributing to Azerbaijan’s renewable energy transition. In February 2021, the first step was taken to that when the company signed an MoU with Azerbaijan’s energy ministry to cooperate in assessing the potential and conditions required for large-scale the carbonized and integrated energy and transport systems, including renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan,” the ambassador added.

“I believe that time has come for Azerbaijan and the UK to speed up the efforts to diversify their long and reliable partnership into the new areas of collaboration and they have all the necessary grounds to do so. I am ready to work with all the stakeholders in the UK to stimulate and facilitate this process in line with aspirations of our countries,” he said.
