The governor of Russia's Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin met with the ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan, Report says,
According to the official website of the Astrakhan region, the meeting was held in Moscow. The sides discussed topics such as investment and trade, industry and agriculture, tourism, and education.
Babushkin discussed with Azerbaijani Ambassador Polad Bulbuloglu plans to open an Astrakhan business center in Baku and transport goods via the Astara-Baku-Astrakhan route within the North-South international transport corridor.
The common theme of all the meetings was to attract direct investments from the Caspian littoral countries to the region. The prospects of cooperation in tourism, including the development of cruise tourism in the Caspian Sea within the Caspian Cruise Line project, were considered. The project will be launched in 2021. Special attention was paid to the resumption of direct flights to the littoral states as soon as possible.
The governor invited the heads of diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan to the Caspian Media Forum 2020 in Astrakhan. The forum will be the main event of the autumn in the Caspian region.
