Today, the government of the Azerbaijani Republic and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of new communication links between the East Zangazur economic region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Report informs.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made the remark at a meeting with a delegation led by the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Co-Chair of the State Commission for Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran Rostam Gasemi.
The MoU will serve to open new transport routes.
During the meeting, it was noted that the new corridor will be an important international corridor for both transport and electricity. It was noted that very important steps are being taken today to launch a new transport corridor, which will be a branch of the North-South Transport Corridor, and will create a good basis for cooperation in both East-West and North-South directions.
