Mammad Talibov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Peru, made a wide presentation about Azerbaijan during a videoconference organized for a large student audience at the National University of San Marcos (Spanish: Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, UNMSM), one of the main higher education institutions of Peru, which has been operating since 1551, Report informs, citing the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Peru.
At the conference, the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Dr. Augusto Hidalgo Sanchez, Associate Dean Dr. Enrique Cornejo, as well as Sara Manchego and Marco Mayer, assistant professors of the faculty, participated.
Ambassador Talibov informed the event participants about the history and rich culture of Azerbaijan, the first democratic republic of the Muslim East, the difficulties encountered in the first years of the restoration of independence, and, despite this, the successful development path it took in a short period.
He spoke about the life of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, his exceptional role in the creation of the Azerbaijan state, and the changes that took place in geopolitical processes both in the region and throughout Eurasia as a result of the world-scale energy and transport projects implemented in the region during his activity.
The ambassador noted that this year in Azerbaijan, the 100th anniversary of the great leader who wrote the strong and independent history of Azerbaijan is being celebrated. In this regard, 2023 was declared the 'Year of Heydar Aliyev'.
The diplomat also informed the participants of the event about the facts of Armenian aggression, the 44-day Patriotic War of 2020 and its consequences, and new realities in the region, including the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the safe return of former IDPs, as well as the efforts made in the liberated territories and large-scale restoration and construction work.
In addition, the ambassador spoke about the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Peru, the expansion of opportunities for cooperation in culture, tourism, and other fields, as well as the educational opportunities, experience, and scholarship programs available in Azerbaijan for foreign students.
The information given during the conference was met with great interest by the participants, and their questions on various topics were answered.
