On March 6, within the framework of his business trip to the State of Qatar, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the US Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations, Michele Sison.
Report informs, citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, that views were exchanged on the current situation in the region, bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as issues of cooperation on multilateral platforms.
Jeyhun Bayramov said that Azerbaijan plays an active role in a number of international organizations, is currently a member of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Economic Cooperation Organization, and is taking large-scale initiatives. The US Assistant Secretary of State was informed about the Non-Aligned Movement Summit held in Baku on March 2 and its results.
At the same time, the minister gave detailed information about aid and scholarship programs for less developed countries.
The minister spoke about the post-conflict situation in the region, the peace-building steps of Azerbaijan, the restoration and construction works in the liberated areas, and the current mine threat. Despite Azerbaijan's peace-building efforts, it was brought to attention that Armenia does not stop provocations and continues mine threats in violation of its obligations.
During the meeting, the parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
