The behavior and provocations of France aimed at continuing the escalation in the region attest to the true nature of the intention and policy pursued by this country both during the conflict and post-conflict periods, reads a response by Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada to the local media inquiry about the groundless allegations against Azerbaijan by the French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies in his interview with Armenia’s Hetq media outlet, Report informs.
"The focus on a smear campaign against Azerbaijan rather than Armenia-France relations by the French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies, who does not follow elementary diplomatic etiquette rules, is a primary result of the failure of French foreign policy.
The negative targeting of measures to end the occupation and separatism in the territory of Azerbaijan, false references to the decisions of the International Court of Justice, statements supporting Armenia’s “incomplete peace” ideas, and several other ridiculous approaches in the interview, first and foremost demonstrates how the French side distorts the realities and is not interested in sustainable and tangible peacebuilding in the region," reads the statement.
