Measures are being taken to hold a meeting with Farid Safarli, arrested in Iran, Aykhan Hajizada, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, said while expressing his opinion on the arrest of Azerbaijani citizen Farid Safarli in Iran.
He reminded that from the day the information about Farid Safarli was received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, that is, from March 9, a note was sent to the Embassy of Iran in Azerbaijan in order to determine the fate of the citizen and for Iran to clarify the issue:
"After numerous requests, the Iranian side responded to our note and said that Farid Safarli was arrested and a criminal case was initiated against him. Farid Safirli's family was informed about this.
"Despite the limited diplomatic representation of Azerbaijan in Iran in connection with the well-known terrorist incident, from the first day of receiving information about Farid Safarli, both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our Consulate General in Tabriz have been negotiating with the relevant Iranian structures. Along with this, regular contact is maintained with the family of Farid Safarli and with himself. In the near future, measures will be taken at our Consulate General in Tabriz to hold a meeting with Farid Safarli."
