Azerbaijani parliament speaker meets Iranian president

Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi as part of her official visit to Iran on August 6.

Report informs, citing Iranian sources, that the Iranian president stressed the historical, cultural, and religious closeness between Iran and Azerbaijan, noting that Iran is full of determination to make an important step to develop comprehensive ties with Azerbaijan.

Raisi also noted that Iranian companies and the private sector are ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan to restore Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation and implement joint projects in technical, engineering, and infrastructural spheres. He noted that the two countries could closely cooperate in regional and international spheres and within the framework of the interests of both countries.

Sahiba Gafarova assured that the Tehran-Baku relations would develop even further.
