Baku celebrates Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

The British Embassy in Azerbaijan is celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II - the first British monarch to rule for 70 years, Report informs.

British Ambassador to Azerbaijan James Sharp spoke at the event.

The coincidence of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the UK with the Platinum Jubilee is especially symbolic, the ambassador said, noting the importance of this event in relations between the countries.

He also reminded about the Karabakh horse presented to Queen Elizabeth II by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the anniversary.

Various traditional British songs, symbols and dishes will be featured at the celebration, Sharp said.
