Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei, the Azerbaijani MFA told Report.

The sides exchanged views on topical issues of the agenda of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus and discussed prospects for the development of bilateral collaboration.

Minister Vladimir Makei thanked Azerbaijan for its constructive approach to the article on Belarus based on international law in the Joint Declaration adopted as a result of the 6th Eastern Partnership Summit.

The ministers also mulled the regional situation and other issues of mutual interest.

Azerbaijan has not joined a paragraph of the declaration regarding Belarus adopted at the 6th Eastern Partnership Summit.
Established in 2009, the European Union's Eastern Partnership program includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, and Belarus. Official Minsk suspended its participation in the program on June 28, retaining its membership. Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova signed a memorandum on May 17 in Kyiv, Ukraine, to establish an "Associated Trio" to express their determination and will to join the EU.
