Russia believes that the 3+3 cooperation platform will promote the development of economic ties and trust in the region, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov said at a press conference, Report informs.
The ambassador reminded that last year “the promising 3+3 format was launched, the interest of which is to normalize the situation in the region and unblock communications.”
“The door for Georgia’s participation in the 3+3 format always remains open,” the ambassador said.
Bocharnikov noted that he doesn’t yet have information about where the next meeting will take place within this format.
The initiative to create a platform for regional cooperation in the 3+3 format (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Russia and Iran) was put forward by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan/
On December 10, Moscow hosted the first meeting of the 3+3 Consultative Regional Platform co-chaired by the deputy foreign ministers of Russia Andrey Rudenko, Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalafov, Armenia Vahe Gevorgyan and Alireza Haghighian, assistant to Iran’s foreign minister and director general for the Eurasian region’s affairs.
