"Azerbaijan, like no one else among the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, complies with all accepted norms in this interstate Union. Azerbaijan maneuvers between major world players and does not join any military bloc," an expert on interethnic conflicts Yevgeny Mikhailov said.
Report informs that, according to the expert, Azerbaijan is trying to cooperate with Western countries and the countries of the Eurasian space, primarily with Russia. "But without giving preference to any state. Azerbaijan goes its own way, and this ability of the country's leader to maneuver between the powerful world powers while observing the national interests of the state is worth a lot," he said.
"Any initiatives of Baku, which are now entering the international arena, are fully justified," Mikhailov said.
According to the expert, in the first place, Azerbaijan is a representative of the entire Turkic world in the organization of the Non-Aligned Movement. "Many countries of the Turkic world are watching how Baku presides over this organization; someone gets the status of an observer, someone wants to join. The organization will only grow thanks to the chairmanship of Azerbaijan," the political scientist said.
Earlier, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev spoke at the conference of the Non-Aligned Movement.
