Reconstruction of the liberated village of Soltanly in Azerbaijan’s Jabrayil district by Hungary will have a positive impact on the development of bilateral cooperation between Baku and Budapest and will contribute to the rapprochement of the peoples of the two countries, Hungarian security policy expert Attila Demko told Report.
According to him, Hungary attaches great importance to maintaining friendly relations and cultural and historical ties with Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan, in turn, plays an important role in ensuring Hungary's energy security," he added.
According to another Hungarian political scientist, Zoltan Kiszelly, energy cooperation between Baku and Budapest began long before many Western European countries "discovered" Azerbaijani gas for themselves.
"Hungary is interested not only in energy cooperation with Azerbaijan. For example, Hungary will help restore the village of Soltanly in the Jabrayil district. Thus, the Hungarian government intends to contribute to improving living conditions in post-conflict areas," he said.
Kiszelly also stressed the importance of the submarine cable project for the transmission of electricity across the Black Sea between Azerbaijan, Hungary, Georgia and Romania, calling it strategic.
