Hajiyev: Azerbaijan hopes for international community support in eliminating mine hazard

A reception dedicated to the results of the year was organized by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry in the Gulistan palace, Report informs.

Speaking at the event, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan-Head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev noted that Azerbaijan, having put an end to the military occupation by Armenia in the South Caucasus region, which has lasted for almost 30 years, has created a new reality and today Azerbaijan is striving for creation of a new region, taking into account the principles and interests of regional cooperation, the opening of communications, mutual respect by states for the territorial integrity of each other.

He noted that at present, Azerbaijan faces such important issues as carrying out restoration work in the liberated territories and the return of internally displaced persons. He stressed that the main obstacle on this path is the mine hazard. Hajiyev expressed hope for the support of the international community in eliminating this danger.
