“Having mostly similar problems on the issues of territorial integrity, of course, I see support from the Azerbaijani delegation in matters of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Accordingly, from our side, we support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within the internationally recognized borders,”
Head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Yehor Chernev said in an interview with the Eastern Europe bureau of Report.
“Therefore, I think that we still need to work on this, on our closer and more constant interaction,” Chernev added.
Commenting on whether the issues of demining territories and the death of civilians in mine explosions are touched upon with the NATO PA, the head of the delegation noted that humanitarian demining problems are on the agenda of both the Parliamentary Assembly and the NATO headquarters itself.
Speaking about cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, Yehor Chernev said that, firstly, Ukraine has long-standing good-neighborly relations with Azerbaijan, and “in very sensitive issues of territorial integrity, we supported Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan constantly supported Ukraine.”
“Besides, we have long-standing trade ties. Last year, as far as I remember, the trade turnover between our countries amounted to $720 million”.
The head of the Permanent Delegation of Ukraine to the NATO PA praised Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day war.
“I think the results speak for themselves. It was a truly brilliant operation, which was carried out using modern technology, drones, which today are a fairly effective method of struggle.”
