Informal CIS summit kicks off in Russia’s St. Petersburg

An informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has kicked off in Russia’s St. Petersburg, Report informs citing TASS.

At the event, the leaders are expected to sum up Belarus’ chairmanship in the CIS in 2021, exchange views on solving common problems, discuss further measures to increase the effectiveness of cooperation and the socio-economic development of the countries of the organization.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attend the event.

The previous informal CIS summit took place in December 2019 in St. Petersburg.
