Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell held phone conversation, Report informs.
Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan also took part in the telephone conversation. Minister J. Bayramov accepted the congratulations of the EU representative on his appointment.
The Minister informed J. Borrel about the military provocation of the Armenian Armed Forces on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and the prevention of an attempt to attack by Armenian armed units using artillery installations, as well as about the tense situation in the region.
Josep Borrell noted the importance of preventing the aggravation of tensions, including threats to vital infrastructure in the region.
The High Representative noted the need to resume substantive negotiations on the conflict's settlement with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
Jeyhun Bayramov stressed Azerbaijan's commitment to resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through negotiations but pointed out the importance of conducting substantive talks, focused on a specific result.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude to J. Borrel for the initiative to hold a telephone conversation.
