"Both in official documents and on the website of the President of Ukraine, Azerbaijan is mentioned as a strategic partner along with Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Poland, Georgia, and Lithuania. However, given the historical events that sometimes unite or separate us, the Kyiv-Ankara-Baku partnership is more important," Ukrainian MP from the ruling People's Servant Party Yuriy Kamelchuk told
According to the Ukrainian MP, despite the pandemic, Turkey and Ukraine had a trade turnover of $4.7 billion last year.
"In the first quarter of 2021, trade turnover amounted to $1.5 billion, 18% more than the same period last year. It is enough to say something about Azerbaijan, with which we established relations 30 years ago. In the mid-1990s, independent Ukraine signed more than a dozen intergovernmental agreements. The agreements covered free trade, economic cooperation, air services, industrial cooperation, and oil and gas wells. Now there is an additional stimulus: there is an opportunity to increase our partnership. By the way, President Zelensky's statement on strategic partnership must be adequately assessed by both our friends and enemies,” he said.
