Lavrov: Russia, Türkiye, Iran offered Baku, Yerevan to use 3+3 platform to complete work on peace treaty

Russia, Türkiye, and Iran have proposed that Azerbaijan and Armenia use the 3+3 platform to complete work on a peace treaty, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference in Istanbul following the meeting of foreign ministers of the countries participating in this regional platform, Report informs.

"There remain problems in the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We talked a lot about this today as well. We, along with the Turks and Iranians, have proposed to our colleagues in Yerevan and Baku to use the 3+3 platform to complete work on a peace treaty," Lavrov said.

The Russian Foreign Minister reminded about "the groundwork and foundations" that were prepared by the parties with Russia's mediation.

Responding to a question about which platform is best suited for completing peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the minister stated: "The one where an agreement can be reached. If they can agree directly, we will only be glad. As I have already said, today we offered, if they are ready for it, to use the 3+3 platform, which would be natural, given that it is in this format that neighbors, Armenia and Azerbaijan, meet. But, I repeat, it's up to Baku and Yerevan to decide," he said.
