The founder of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR), Mammad Amin Rasulzade, has been immortalized in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
According to Report's local bureau, as a result of the initiative and efforts of Azerbaijani Diaspora activists living in Toronto Altay Zeynalov and Agil Guliyev, a maple tree, a symbol of Canada, was planted in the city's second-largest park, G Ross Lord, and a memorial plaque was erected.
Zeynalov said the management of G Ross Lord Park was allowed to locate trees shortly after the official appeal:
"Our goal is to promote the historical figures, national and spiritual values, as well as traditions of Azerbaijan in faraway Canada. This activity is favored. Earlier, we planted a tree on Lake Ontario's shores in central Toronto in memory of our compatriots who Armenians brutally killed in the Khojaly tragedy. We will continue this campaign in the coming years."
