Mevlut Cavusoglu: Armenia should be sincere for lasting peace

Armenia should be sincere for lasting peace, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told Report.

He said that erecting statues to terrorists is unacceptable: "It is of course unacceptable to erect a statue in Yerevan to the terrorist who killed our Azerbaijani brothers and our soldiers, and then our diplomats in the Ottoman period. We have also taken some measures. We have closed our air border to flights to third countries through Türkiye . Today we expect Armenia to correct this mistake. We did not set any preconditions for Armenia. We did not say, 'You will give up the so-called genocide claims, then we will take action.' They cannot impose conditions on us either. Because their claims are unfounded. However, erecting a statue to terrorists is unacceptable. If they do not correct their mistakes, we will take further action."

The minister emphasized that Armenia should to be sincere for ensuring lasting peace: "Provocations should be stopped. It is necessary to stay away from activities such as sending soldiers or weapons illegally to Karabakh. It should not be allowed to loot the natural resources of Azerbaijan's mines and sell them to other places. The whole world knows that we stand by Azerbaijan in all these issues. Azerbaijan is not alone and never will be. Although there are agreements regarding Zangazur, it has not yet been implemented. This is also in favor of Armenia. The common corridor is now gaining importance. If Armenia wants to take advantage of this, it should quickly take these steps and fulfill its obligations."
