"April 4, 2022, marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is an important strategic partner of Russia," the Russian Foreign Ministry said, Report informs.
"Relations between the two countries are based on the principles of equality and good neighborliness, centuries-old traditions of friendship and mutual respect. The development of relations between the two countries contributes to strengthening stability and security in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The ministry noted that trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan is thriving:
"Azerbaijan is Russia's main trading partner among the CIS countries that are not members of the Eurasian Economic Union. Relationships between business communities are expanding, including through small and medium-sized businesses. An important element of bilateral cooperation is the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation."
