The Iranian side bears full responsibility for the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, Elman Nasirov, a member of the parliament (Milli Majlis), told Report.
"Against the backdrop of recent tension in Azerbaijan-Iran relations, the presence of an armed attack on the embassy in Tehran raises many questions. One of the questions is to what extent the perpetrators of the crime were politically motivated and who is behind their actions. These questions are still open," MP said.
He recalled earlier attacks on the embassies of Azerbaijan in France, London, and the United States:
"There were no casualties in those attacks, bur there are people killed and injured in the armed attack in Tehran. It turns out that this armed attack was prepared from the beginning, preparations were made purposefully, which raises further questions. Iran's top political leadership should clarify all such issues because this is a very negative precedent.
"Criminals must be punished, and reasons and motives must be clarified. Azerbaijan-Iran relations can be discussed depending on this. The occurrence of this event created additional tension against the backdrop of recent tensions in bilateral ties. The other party is responsible for the dangerous incident and criminal act and must also answer. It turns out that the Iranian side was very indifferent to the issue of the safety of the embassy employee working there."
