President: Italy is Azerbaijan’s closest partner in European Union

Italy is Azerbaijan’s closest partner in the European Union and the visits of three Italian ministers to Azerbaijan in recent months is a real indicator of the development of bilateral relations, said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev as he met with Chief Executive Director of “Leonardo” Alessandro Profumo in Munich, Report informs via AZERTAC.

President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan places a special weight on cooperation with Leonardo, one of Italy’s leading firms.

The Azerbaijani President underscored the importance of expanding the existing cooperation in the defense industry.

President Ilham Aliyev said Italy-Azerbaijan energy cooperation is successfully developing, stressing the contribution of Italian companies to reconstruction works in the liberated lands of Azerbaijan.
