Presidential Administration official: Armenia afraid to give information about missing Azerbaijanis

Armenia is afraid to provide information about missing Azerbaijanis, Habib Mikayilli, sector head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said in a briefing about the missing persons, Report informs.

He said that during the first Karabakh war, the country had about 3,900 missing people.

According to the head of the sector, the relevant institutions are closely cooperating on this issue: "We had high expectations from the ICRC."

"The liberation of our territories made it possible to strengthen our activities in those places. Because we are already doing work in those areas, we are discovering mass graves. It is known from the discovered remains that the Armenian soldiers constantly tortured the prisoners. There are constant discussions with Armenia regarding many issues, as well as missing persons. We hope Armenia will inform us about the fate of the missing persons and also give us a list of mass graves. 30 years later, it seems they are afraid to share such information. Because they know that if they give the list, the War Crimes Commission will take appropriate measures. There is a need for international cooperation in this matter," Mikayilli noted.
