On May 19, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Report informs.
Issues related to the post-conflict situation in the region were discussed with an emphasis on solving practical tasks to ensure security and stability in full accordance with the trilateral statements of November 10, 2020 and January 11, 2021.
In this context, attention was paid to the recent events on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border. The presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia expressed a common opinion that the settlement should be carried out exclusively by political and diplomatic methods. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin noted that the Russian side will continue mediating efforts and providing advisory assistance aimed at reaching an agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia on launching the process of delimitation and demarcation of the state border.
The parties also exchanged views on key aspects of the bilateral agenda. President Ilham Aliyev expressed his sincere gratitude for the ongoing supplies of Russian vaccines. Mutual interest was expressed in deepening beneficial cooperation in all areas. Intensive contacts between governments, relevant ministries and departments will be aimed at this.
