Problems of Azerbaijani community in US discussed

A meeting with activists of the Azerbaijani community living in New York and neighboring states was organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States, Report informs.

The New York meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to the United States Khazar Ibrahim, Consul of the Embassy Jeyhun Novruzov, and diplomats of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the United Nations.

At the same time, mobile consular service was provided at the venue, and assistance was delivered to our compatriots who have problems with documents, such as renewing passports.

During the meeting, the ambassador discussed issues of concern to community members and said that concrete steps would be taken to address them. Azerbaijanis attending the event informed the ambassador about the need to open an Azerbaijani house in New York. He, in turn, spoke about the work for resolving the issue.

Community members briefed the ambassador on their future plans and debated many topics.

Khazar Ibrahim said he was ready to support Azerbaijanis in the United States in all matters, adding that such meetings would be held regularly in the future.

During the meeting, the ambassador presented a medal to Yakov Abramov, a well-known engineer and founder of the Caucasus Jews Community, who has lived in the US for many years and successfully promoted Azerbaijan. Abramov was awarded by the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry. The ambassador wished Abramov success in his future endeavors.
