Report's US Bureau journalist: Armenians worried about Turkish Mehmet Oz's candidacy to Congress

Armenians living in the United States are worried about a candidate for the US Congress Mehmet Oz's Turkish identity and refusal to accept the so-called 'Armenian genocide," Vusala Abbasova, an employee of the US Bureau of Report, told Azerbaijan Television (AZTV).

According to her, final preparations are currently being made for the elections to the US Congress: "The November 8 elections are crucial for the United States and the representatives of the communities living in this country. Turkish Mehmet Oz will be the first Muslim candidate in the polls, and we hope he will be elected. Activists of the Armenian diaspora in the United States began to worry about his power."

Abbasova noted that the Armenian mass media and the local US media influenced by them have been writing about Oz in recent days:

"They are worried about his Turkish, Muslim identity, his influential personality, and refusal to accept the so-called 'Armenian genocide'. The Armenian lobby makes many claims. Mehmet Oz is still a citizen of Turkiye. In addition, the former President of the United States Donald Trump is one of the people who expressed his open support for Mehmet Oz. This is why Armenians are worried that Mehmet Oz is a strong candidate. They fear that there is someone in the US Congress who will tell the truth. Because he will reveal facts that prove the Armenians' claims are false. This will cause serious panic. Such a situation will raise serious questions about who is telling the truth and who is lying."

She emphasized that if Oz is represented in the US Congress, Armenians will not be able to lie there, and if they try to do so, they will receive a decent answer on the spot: "Mehmet Oz will be a shield against Armenian lies. This makes us happy. The Turkish community in the US is now quietly waiting for the outcome. Association leaders and community activists I met and spoke with hope that this critical period will end with a successful outcome. We are looking forward to the victory of Mehmet Oz. If he wins, we will celebrate it in our countries."
