Russia-Azerbaijan relations reach new heights, says Russian Deputy PM Overchuk

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk has declared that Russia and Azerbaijan are experiencing a "golden age" in their bilateral relations.

Overchuk emphasized the successful cooperation between Moscow and Baku in developing the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and other significant projects.

"We are witnessing a flourishing of relations with Azerbaijan," he stated, adding that both countries are engaged in several interesting and large-scale projects, including industrial development initiatives.

The Deputy PM highlighted the joint efforts in modernizing border checkpoints, resulting in highly efficient processing of vehicular traffic with no delays at the border.

Overchuk praised Azerbaijan's positioning as a transit country, noting its immense value to Russia's economic development.

"Azerbaijan's policy allows Moscow to expand export flows and improve conditions for their advancement towards the Global South," he explained.

The Russian official also touched upon the broader effects of this partnership, mentioning ongoing projects in Iran. These include the construction of a crucial 168-kilometer railway section between Rasht and Astara, which will provide access to Iranian ports such as Bandar Abbas and Chabahar. This development is part of a larger strategy to open up new trade routes to Libya, other Arab countries, and African nations.0
