Russian political scientist: Putin urges Pashinyan to make concessions to Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is well aware that Russian President Vladimir Putin considers him a traitor, and the Russian leader would be happy to remove Pashinyan from power in Armenia, Sergey Markov, Russian political scientist, Director of the Institute for Political Studies, told Report.

According to Markov, during his speech at the Valdai forum, Putin hinted that Pashinyan should make major concessions to Azerbaijan.

“Putin said that Russia had tried for many years to persuade the Armenian leadership to make concessions to Azerbaijan and to return five of the seven districts around Karabakh. Only after that could the Karabakh problem be solved peacefully. However, the leadership of Armenia was stubborn and caused the start of the war. As a result, they lost more by being defeated. Thus, Putin hinted at what Yerevan will face if it does not make concessions. That is, otherwise, there will be another war, and Azerbaijan will take full military control over the entire Karabakh territory without making any concessions,” Markov said.
