In connection with the declaration of Shusha city as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World for 2024, the special representative of the president of Azerbaijan in Shusha district, Aydin Karimov, and his delegation visited Abu Dhabi (UAE) on November 26-27, Report informs.
The visit took place as part of Shusha City Days, organized by the Shusha State Reserve Administration with the support of the Azerbaijan Embassy in the UAE.
During the visit, Aydin Karimov met with UAE Minister of Culture Sheikh Salem Al Qasimi, UAE Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Belhoul, and Deputy Head of the UAE Department of Urban Planning and Transport, Saif Sultan Al Nasseri.
The meeting participants discussed bilateral relations between the countries, with special emphasis on the successful hosting of the COP29 climate conference in Azerbaijan, which is considered one of the most prestigious global events.
Information about Shusha city's Master Plan was also presented, and ideas were discussed regarding urban development, strengthening ties between the two cities, as well as cooperation in science, culture and creativity, and experience exchange.
Additionally, the Azerbaijani side provided information about the city's history, the destruction and looting committed by Armenians during its occupation, current restoration works, tourism potential development, tourist attraction, international work on promoting Shusha city, and ongoing projects. Shusha City Days continued with the support of the State Tourism Agency.
The photo exhibition "Shusha - Yesterday and Today" featured photographs reflecting the city's historical past, nature, and reconstruction and restoration works. UAE Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Belhoul, Director of the Asia and Pacific Department of UAE Foreign Ministry Abdul Aziz Al Neyadi, and heads of Abu Dhabi state institutions attended the event.
As part of Shusha City Days, a grand gala concert featuring Azerbaijani masters of culture and art was also held.
