Stefan Antic: Azerbaijan’s role in int’l arena pivotal in elevating profile of all small states

Azerbaijan has consistently upheld international law, Serbian political scientist Stefan Antic told Report.

The expert reminded that Belgrade and Baku, being friends and reliable partners, have always supported each other’s territorial integrity, despite political pressure from the West.

This mutual support has become the basis for strengthening trust and maintaining our friendly relations, he said.

“Azerbaijan’s role in the international arena has been pivotal in elevating the profile of all small states, Serbia included. Firstly, through its strategic patience, diplomatic skill employed, and responsible approach to regional security, Azerbaijan set a commendable example of defending territorial integrity. Secondly, it has successfully established a “security equilibrium” in the South Caucasus through constructive cooperation with both Türkiye and Russia. This too serves as a blueprint for small states facing similar challenges,” he noted.

“Thirdly, Azerbaijan has consistently supported its allies in times of need, both diplomatically and economically. Azerbaijan currently enjoys good relations with all great and middle powers, making its position unique and its friendship enormously valuable for Serbia and other nations alike.”
