"The US Embassy in Azerbaijan commends the Prosecutor General's Office for highlighting the need to eliminate domestic violence in Azerbaijan," Report informs, referring to a statement by the Embassy.
"Millions of women around the world have been victims of domestic violence, and in Azerbaijan, we grieve for the 33 women who lost their lives in the first half of 2021 to this deplorable crime.
We will be proud to partner with the Government of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani civil society to help eradicate the scourge of domestic violence and other forms of violence against women," the statement said.
Note that the Prosecutor General's Office has issued a statement on the cases of violence against women. It was stated that mental and physical violence against women remains a serious threat to a healthy society: "Unfortunately, in the first half of this year alone, 33 women were killed as a result of premeditated murders. The biggest obstacle to combating violence against women is silence! Do not be an accomplice to the crime! If you encounter cases of violence against women, immediately apply to the "961" Call Center of the Prosecutor General's Office!"
