The UN has announced its readiness to support Azerbaijan to minimize early marriages, Vladanka Andreeva, the resident coordinator of the UN in Azerbaijan, said at the international conference on "Prevention of domestic violence: opportunities and prospects" held in Baku on December 6, Report informs.
According to her, it is regrettable that the cases of domestic violence against women remain one of the most critical problems:
"Efforts are being made to prevent violence against women. Initiatives are being implemented in this direction. We are trying to support our government partners in developing new laws and proposals. Efforts are being made to prevent early marriages and empower women. We are ready to provide all kinds of support to minimize the problem. I believe that with this, we can create a safer and more equal society in the future, and create a secure society for women and girls in Azerbaijan."
