"There is a shocking imbalance in the global distribution of vaccines. More than 7.3 billion doses of vaccine have been used worldwide, but about 70% of them went to only ten countries," said the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Report informs.

He noted that almost 40% of the world's population is fully vaccinated, but this figure is only 6% in Africa.

According to him, the same inequality is also observed in obtaining coronavirus tests. He recalled the task set by the WHO to achieve the vaccination of at least 40% of the population in all countries by the end of the year: "11 billion doses of vaccine are needed for this."

The WHO says that 256,966,237 people worldwide have contracted the virus, and 5,151,643 patients have died.
