Azerbaijan is promoting the implementation of the "One Healthcare" concept through multisectoral cooperation, policy, practice and education, Healthcare Minister Teymur Musayev said at a technical briefing on "One Healthcare", which is taking place in Copenhagen within the 74th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, Report informs.
The minister emphasized the relevance of the topic discussed at the session, noting that Azerbaijan is promoting the implementation of the One Health concept through multisectoral cooperation, policy, practice and education.
"One of the important steps along this path within the International Health Regulations was the Joint External Evaluation covering 19 technical areas," he noted.
"In May 2023, during a consultative process involving a group of local experts and a multisectoral international assessment team, Azerbaijan's capabilities were examined in 19 areas, including the health sector. As a result of joint discussions and site visits, consensus was reached on the assessments and priority actions were identified in all technical areas aimed at improving the implementation of the International Health Regulations, the One Health concept and strengthening the resilience of the Azerbaijani health system in emergency situations," he said.
He added that the next step in implementing the One Health Concept in Azerbaijan will be the development of the National Action Plan for Health Security, which is aimed at strengthening coordination mechanisms, joint supervision, monitoring, capacity development, including infrastructure and human resources.
In his speech, Teymur Musayev also emphasized that the COP29 climate conference will be held in Azerbaijan in November.
"COP29 is a great opportunity for the world community to unite, assess common progress and identify practical solutions," he added.
