Azerbaijani Health Ministry names reasons behind massive spread of viral infections

The Azerbaijani Health Ministry has commented on the reasons for the massive spread of the virus among the population in Azerbaijan.

An expert at the ministry, infectious disease specialist Tayyar Eyvazov told Report that at present, respiratory viral infections with the high fever and other similar symptoms are common among both children and adults.

“The most widespread among the population are seasonal acute respiratory viral infections. The outbreak of these diseases occurs during the colder months and their number is increasing. Almost the same picture is observed every year and this year is no exception,” he stressed.

According to a ministry official, there is now an increase in numbers compared to previous years: “The reason is that there were a number of lockdowns in previous years due to the pandemic. Currently, many of the bans have been lifted. With this in mind, the current level of seasonal viral infections in the country is at the same level as the rates recorded in previous years. That is, the current mass morbidity is seasonal. I think that after a certain time, the number of such cases will decrease.”

The specialist also addressed the population: “If people have a fever, headache, runny nose, cough, etc., they should isolate themselves and limit contact with other people as much as possible. The infected person and his family members should wear a mask and see a doctor. If necessary, they need to take a coronavirus test. If a child has health problems, he cannot be sent to school or kindergarten because children can cause the massive spread of such infections.”
