Chief infectious disease specialist of Clinical Medical Center calls on population to get booster dose against new strains

"After a certain period of time, the immune response of infected and vaccinated people begins to decline," Farrukh Sadirov, chief infectious disease specialist of the Clinical Medical Center, said, Report informs.

"After some time, we are more likely to be infected with all strains of the coronavirus. Therefore, we need to increase resistance with a booster dose to reduce the likelihood of infection. The coronavirus is a self-healing disease in 80 percent of cases without the need for medical examination and hospital treatment, and in 20 percent of cases it requires hospitalization," he said.

Sadirov stressed that vaccinated people are less infected with the virus: "The whole world says this and we see it in practice. People who are not vaccinated are many times more likely to be hospitalized, resuscitated, and die."
