In pursuance of the 2021-2022 COVID-19 Vaccination Strategy, the vaccination process continues in Azerbaijan nationwide, Report informs, citing the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry, a more contagious strain of the coronavirus - Delta - on the agenda makes it necessary to take even more serious steps to fight the pandemic. In addition, seasonal weather changes increase the risk of virus spreading.
On the other hand, research has shown that the effect of coronavirus vaccines decreases over time. There is a need to inject the third (booster) dose to increase immunity to the disease.
Several countries, including Turkey, China, Austria, Belgium, Finland, Hungary, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland, have already started injecting a booster dose to the population,
Given the results of recent scientific studies and the mutation of the COVID-19 virus, the Ministry of Health urges at-risk citizens, those with chronic illnesses, all health care workers, and the population over the age of 50 to be vaccinated with the third dose (booster dose) for every two doses of vaccine.
All vaccines approved in Azerbaijan can be used for the third dose.
