Neurologist says eye twitching can be related to cancer

A nervous tic can be a sign of cancer, Russian neurologist Alexander Evdokimov told a local TV, Report informs.

According to him, one of the probable causes of involuntary twitching of the upper or lower eyelid is the central and peripheral nervous system problems.

“It can be a damaged facial nerve, encephalitis, meningitis, brain cancer, and other serious causes,” Evdokimov noted.

The physician noted that in such conditions, the nervous tic lasts for a long time.

“They can last two, three, four months. If your tics last more than two months, this is a reason to see a neurologist to conduct an examination and prescribe treatment if necessary,” the doctor warned.

Evdokimov clarified that eye twitching often begins due to overexertion, stress, overwork, frequent use of gadgets, as well as a high load on the cervical spine and occipital muscle groups. In such cases, he advised contacting an osteopath or massage therapist.
