Proposals on regulating local drug market prepared in Azerbaijan

One of the main indicators of the quality of health services is the availability of effective drugs at an affordable price, Azerbaijani Health Minister Teymur Musayev said, Report informs.

"In addition to increasing access to medicines, local production of pharmaceutical products forms scientific and technological skills and makes the health care system more resistant to external influences. The Commission for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Sector, established by the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, has been tasked with improving policy and management mechanisms in the field of medicines, including registration procedures, increasing local production of pharmaceuticals, and other tasks. In the near future, based on the results of the Commission's activities, proposals will be submitted to regulate the local drug market," he said.

According to the Minister, the development of the pharmaceutical sector, Azerbaijan's ability to provide itself with medicines is an issue under the attention and control of the country's leadership.
