Scientists propose new treatment for cancer

Experts from the Swiss Technical University in Zurich have offered an unexpected solution to direct delivery of anti-cancer drugs to the oncological tumor. They consider it advisable to use bacteria controlled by the magnetic field in the blood vessels, Report informs, citing RİA Novosti.

Such bacteria were found in nature 45 years ago and are called Magnetospirillum. These bacteria absorb water-soluble iron, which then forms crystals of iron oxide.

Experiments show that these bacteria are arranged along the Earth's magnetic field axis like a compass axis. And if a magnet is added to the bacterium, they gather around the magnetic poles.

According to scientists, with the help of a magnetic field, Magnetospirillum can control the liquid flow.

In the research, the movement of bacteria was simulated in the bloodstream in the veins.

In this case, the specialists could limit bacteria's activity to a small area and control the flow of fluid with very high accuracy. However, all this required a relatively high concentration of bacteria in the liquid.

Scientists should check the safety of the method in animals and patients. Also, the presence of bacteria in the body does not exclude an immune response and allergic reactions.
