WHO issues new recommendations for treatment of coronavirus-hit children

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued new recommendations for in-patient treatment of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children under 18 years of age.

Report informs that 885 patients were involved in the study.

It has been reported that COVID-19-related multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children and adolescents under the age of 19 causes damage to several organs. Although it is a rare but very dangerous disease, fortunately, it can be cured. It is necessary to provide professional assistance to children suffering from this syndrome, to place them in the intensive care unit. If such children receive timely help, they will recover completely.

WHO experts first studied the syndrome in May 2020. Symptoms of this disease include fever, rash, non-purulent conjunctivitis, inflammation of the mucous membranes, high blood pressure, stroke, and other symptoms that last at least three days. Moreover, children and adolescents may experience abdominal pain, vomiting, and diarrhea. The most common risk factors are obesity, chronic diseases of the lungs and respiratory tract, including asthma, cardiovascular disease, and weakened immunity.
