WHO suspends testing of Russian vaccines over Ukraine war

The World Health Organization (WHO) has suspended the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine testing. The delay is due to Russia's military actions in Ukraine, Report informs, citing the statement of the World Health Organization on Twitter.

A few days before the start of the war, the inspection team was supposed to go to Russia, said WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, adding that everything has stopped.

The WHO said in early March that testing of the Sputnik V vaccine had been postponed due to the current situation, including the impossibility of flights to Russia. In 2021, the WHO inspected four Russian production facilities as part of Sputnik V's initial qualification procedure and published notes on the activities of one of them. A repeat test in early 2022 was to complete the process for recognizing the Russian vaccine in many countries around the world.
