Google may require video bloggers from all over the world creating videos on its YouTube platform to pay tax on income received from views of their content by US residents, Report informs referring to TASS.
Google may start levying US taxes on earnings received from US viewers from June 2021, reads the message.
‘Over the next few weeks, we'll be asking you to submit your tax info in AdSense to determine the correct amount of taxes to deduct, if any apply. If your tax info isn't provided by May 31st, 2021, Google may be required to deduct up to 24% of your total earnings worldwide,’ Google said in an email to creators. Google AdSense program allows a faster and easier way to display relevant Google ads on result pages.
The attached explanatory video notes that such a measure is necessary to comply with US Internal Revenue Service requirements that the corporation must collect tax information from all monetizing creators outside of the US. If these creators are earning income from US viewers, then Google must deduct taxes from these creators.
