Minister: Laying fiber-optic cable along bottom of Caspian Sea is very important

Laying a fiber-optic cable between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan along the bottom of the Caspian Sea is of great importance, the Digital Development and Transport Minister of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev said at a conference of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Bucharest, Romania, Report informs.

Nabiyev noted that Azerbaijan is the initiator of the project.

“This initiative will enable the creation of digital services in the South Caucasus, the Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia. We must pool our resources and create synergies to bring the benefits of ICT to all countries and all sectors of society,” the minister said.
