Turkish authorities launch antitrust investigation against Google

The Turkish Competition Authority has filed a case against Google, its parent and subsidiaries for violating antitrust laws in relation to the provision of Internet search services, Report informs referring to the statement of the antimonopoly regulator released on February 2.

The investigation is being conducted against Alphabet Inc., Google LLC, Google International LLC, Google Ireland Limited and the Turkish branch of the company. “The Competition Authority conducted a preliminary investigation into the abuse by these companies of their dominant position in the search services market,” the regulator said.

The results of this investigation were discussed by the Competition Authority, which “deemed the information, documents and conclusions received to be serious and sufficient to initiate a case on the economic integrity of the company.”
