WhatsApp to allow users to hide online status

WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow users to hide their online status from anyone who cannot be trusted.

Report informs, citing foreign media, that currently, "Last Seen," "Profile Picture," and "About" can be seen by everyone, contacts, or nobody. There are no customizable options.

Those restrictions will soon be lifted as WhatsApp is currently testing the ability to exclude specific contacts from seeing your status. This option allows users to hide their "Last Seen" time from a handful of people without disabling it entirely.

This option also supports profile photos and bios and gives much more control over privacy than before.

Disabling "Last Seen" remains a one-way street – if a user hides it from a group of people on their contact list, WhatsApp, in turn, hides their information.

Although the feature was spotted on iOS, it's supposed to hit all smartphones when it's ready for prime time.
