Chairman of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov and UNDP Resident Representative for Azerbaijan Alessandro Fracassetti have signed new financing documents for the restoration of community security in the post-conflict period, ANAMA told Report.
With $1 million from UNDP crisis response and UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund, UNDP will provide support to ANAMA to train, equip and deploy emergency response teams to clear mines and unexploded ordnances which pose grave risks to local communities living in the conflict affected areas.
Suleymanov expressed his hope for future cooperation, emphasizing the importance of this project.
UNDP continues to support ANAMA in conducting a mine action needs assessment, provides international expertise and supports ANAMA in procuring personal protective equipment and mine clearing equipment.
ANAMA was established with UNDP’s support in 1999.
